South Coast Karting really is run by racers for racers. With a huge history in Motorsport behind the Lovell Family.
Ray started his working career in the motor racing world and started racing in short circuit Mini Stocks championship in the early 90's. This was followed by a spell in the post historic saloon car championship in his self prepared Dolomite Sprint. Ray retired from racing to make time for George to start Karting in 1994 and has recently returned to racing in 2019, and now races an MGB GT.
Eldest son George, followed in dads footsteps and started racing from the age of just 8 years old, claiming multiple championships throughout the years including regional championships such as the Wessex championship and Welsh championships, was a top ten UK seeded driver on 3 occasions, narrowly missing out on the British Championship title in 1999. George's Karting career was followed by some time in Formula Ford where another Championship was won in the winter of 2001. Georges now makes a rare appearance behind the wheel and his last race was back in 2018 where he took 100uk British Open Championship title. George's eldest son Max (10yrs) has also got the racing bug. Max races locally in the Honda Cadet Class.
Jim, started out in Karts at 8 years old, and like his brother it wasn't long until he was winning. Jim won his first Karting Championship at 13 years old in the CPKC Mini Max Championship before making a switch to racing on two wheels. Jim has won the British pit bikes championship on multiple occasions and has also raced with success in the Honda CBR cup, the triumph triple challenge and 600 super sport in the British Super Bike Championship.
